Conventional bracing, individual diagonal bracing, zig zag reinforcements

Conventional methods of seismic rehabilitation with concrete cutting walls or rigid steel clamps are not considered suitable as improvements because these methods have considered an expensive and slow foundation work. The correct budget and program have meant that these conventional options are not feasible. Of all the methods available for extracting kinetic energy from a moving body, the most widely adopted is undoubtedly the friction brake. It is the most effective, reliable and economical way to dissipate energy. This friction brake principle has inspired the development of friction shock absorbers. As in automobiles, the movement of the vibratory construction can be slowed down by dissipating the energy in friction. Various types of friction shock absorbers have been developed. For frame structures, they are available for transverse traction bracing, individual diagonal bracing, zig zag reinforcements and friction connectors in the expansion joints to avoid collisions.
